(Hub for Interactive Learning & Innovative Orientation Skills)

HILIOS WAS INAUGRATED ON "SEP 16th 2008" in functioning with a student Advisor to guide the students in planning and implementing the co-curricular and extra-curricular activities of the students of the Department of Information Technology.

Objectives:

  • To have invited talks from IITs and NITs experts in different subjects of IT.
  • To conduct Zonal level workshops - at least one in a year.
  • To conduct National conferences. Symposia at least one in two years.
  • To conduct student technical competitions, in the form of Quizzes, technical Essays etc., once in a year.
  • Conducting internal seminars every week, in a topic given by the faculty.

2014-15

Summary of Engineers Day Celebrations 15-09-2014

Department of IT & MCA conducted the following events on the eve of “Engineers Day”, thebirth anniversary of Sir Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya, an eminent engineer who was responsible for the construction of the Krishna Raja Sagara dam in Mandya (Present Mysore) and the Block System was invented by him, which was a system of automated doors that closed in the conditions of overflow was implemented for many more dams.

This event is organized by HILIOS students Association.

  1. Coding Contest

    To encourage talented students to participate in several national & international coding contests. About 100 students have participated in prelims rounds where they have to answer 30 C--questions in 30 minutes. Out of 100+ students, 21 students were selected for final round where they were asked to answer 20 tough C questions in 20minutes.

    Ms. N Prasanna, III/IV IT got first prize and Mr. G Nagendra prasad, IV/IV IT got second prize.

  2. Tech Quiz

    Puzzles are a big part of interview questions for programmers these days. Companies like Microsoft, Google, and Facebook have a tendency to give puzzles to test out software engineers while they are interviewing. Some puzzles and brain teasers will be given to the registered teams. 4 students can form a team.

    Around 25 teams of students were participated in this event and the team IT-Techs,

    Mr. U Avinash, Mr. Raja Sekhar, Mr.Sameer, Mr. Dinesh, III/IV IT students is declared as winners.

  3. Young Mind’s Innovation

    Department conducted “Young Mind’s Innovation” contest where the students of II/IV & III/IV IT & MCA students were given an opportunity to present their ideas which are helpful for society, industry, IT sector etc.

    Ideas Given by Students:
    1. Barcode scanners at Toll gate & GPRS tracking of RTC buses
    2. Student federation – funds collection, the collected amount is properly used for students benifit and to help society when natural calamities happen
    3. Recycling of plastic
    4. Save Girls & Usage of Indian products & working software companies
    5. Bus pass system
    6. Usage of LINUX machines
    7. Using sensors on tracks to avoid accidents
    8. Using solar system in houses & using sensors & detectors in cars & Digital display board
    9. Girl saving by 108
    10. Vehicle licence card for safe driving & Card validation system
    11. Sim card registration User Id/Password on the Mobile device

  4. Spot event

    What..when.. Whom? - where students were asked to guess scientists names/things invented by them. It was an interactive session where all the students involved in guessing computer related things & their inventors.

    Mrs B Meena, Asst Professor, IT encouraged young budding engineers to be creative and briefed the impact of an engineer on society.

    Mr. Ch D Naidu, Sr. Asst. Professor, IT briefed the importance of an engineer in developing the world and delivered few notable points on energy conservation to be remembered by every engineer.

    Mrs. I S L Sarwani, Asst. Professor, IT & Mrs. S V S S Lakshmi, Asst. Professor, IT organized this event.
